2024 wedding trends:
There have been so many new & unique trends circling around, that I thought it was finally time to write a blog about it! Planning a wedding or about to and want to make sure you’re ‘in with the new’? This is the blog for you! Introducing the 2024 wedding trends!
COLOR
This year has been screaming with bold and vibrant colors and I am NOT mad about it. If you know me at all, you know I love bold, loud and out of the box ideas and designs so this fits right up my alley.
TABLE NAMES
In lieu of having table numbers, table names have become more popular as of late. National parks, golf courses, cities, etc. All I can say about this is if you decide to go this route, it is a cute idea, but make it logistically too! Remember, your caterer, and DJ will need to know specifics with this if choosing to do plated meals, dietary restrictive guests, releasing tables, etc. As well as the guests themselves. If you only have table names & no numbers, it’s gonna take 200 people a long time to try to go around to each table & figure out where their name is. Aimlessly wandering around.
Pro tip: Make this a job for your host/hostess, or ushers! They can stand by the seating chart, greet your guests, and take them to their table if you decide only to display names and no numbers. Goes much quicker and this makes your guests feel special!
INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT
Before this year, I saw once in a blue moon a live painter being used, musicians during cocktail hour, etc. This year, it has done a 180. Everyone wants to entertain their guests all.night.long. Musicians during cocktail hour and/or dinner instead of a DJ, live painters, 360 photo booths, tattoo station.. Yup, you heard me! (mainly temporary tattoo stations, but I have seen a real tattoo artist come to a wedding before too!) These couples are pulling out all of the stops to make their day memorable!
FOOD HEAVY
The foodies have been coming out to play a bit more in the year of 2024. A lot more of my events have been food heavy, meaning, they spend more money to have a variety of food or provide different food experiences for their guests. This can include food stations instead of just one buffet, a multiple course plated style dinner, passed hors d/oeuvres, a build your own pizza bar for the late night snack!… it’s 7am while I am writing this and my mouth is watering at these endless food options!
FAVORS / GUEST BOOK IDEAS YOU’LL ACTUALLY USE
This has been one of my favorite trends because let’s be honest, how many koozies can one wedding guest *truly* need? Instead, the couples have shifted gears towards a more interactive style for favors and/or guest book ideas with their guests. Below are just a couple examples I’ve seen that have been my favorite:
- Flower Bar (having buckets of flowers on display & each guest gets to make their own bouquet to take home)
- Voicemail guest book (a telephone is connected to a recording device & when guests go to pick up the phone, they can leave a message for you in lieu of writing in a guest book/signing their name somewhere)
- Polaroid Guestbook (guests get to take photos with the polaroid & add it to a book with their personal message)
- Fortune Tellers or Tarot Readings (guests can have short readings done throughout the evening adding a mystical element to your celebration)
- Bracelet Bar (permanent bracelets are the new fad thing to do. Guests get to go up to the bar to personalize their bracelet & have it welded together & placed on them)
THE SECOND DRESS
This has been a fun one to witness! We all know when the night ‘turns’ at each of these events. When the drinks start to flow and the shoes come off. Most Brides do not want that bulky dress holding them back from cuttin’ a rug. I have had literally spots on my timeline to carve out a section of the night where ‘Bride changes into second dress.’ The Bride’s will sneak off into the night, change into their party dress, and come out a whole new woman! That pretty, train length dress did her part, and gets hung up, while the new party dress comes out to play!
There you have it! If you didn’t have ideas, now you do! However, I will say, don’t let the idea of keeping up with these trends or trying to outdo them, get in the way of the true meaning behind your day. It’s easy to get lost in the planning, so ground yourself and be present in the process.
